The Unconditional Love Of An Animal

The Unconditional Love Of An Animal
There is nothing on this planet like the unconditional love of an animal. The positive effects that animals have on most people are beyond words. They offer us moral support and welcome healing when life can get difficult or uncomfortable. Always by our side, their affection transcends all borders.

How can such powerful love affect us? Why do some of them show such limitless affection? Are all animals able to love? And what makes it so unique for us human beings?
Well, at first hand, an animal can provide unconditional love, hugs and kisses to many people who have never received affection in their entire lives. Animals even help you live longer. Their lives can heal yours. And there is evidence of this claim worldwide. I'm not surprised that a scientific study has proven, what many have known from the start: animals are capable of great acts of love.
And we have all experienced the emotional, sentimental and almost gravitational pull of an animal's touch. It's an incredible feeling to play with a dog, cuddle a cat, ride a horse or bond with a bird. Even watching a video on a wild animal that takes its young out of a delicate situation affects us. Animals therefore have an extraordinary healing power that goes beyond what we can imagine.

    Let's be more attentive
Most of you know the love that an animal can have. You know that feeling. It is the touch of a wet nose that rubs your face or the sound of a worried moan when you are sad. It is also the jump on your lap or the absolute happiness when they see you. But it's even deeper when you look into their broad, compassionate eyes. Then they seem to understand you at the deepest level
So if you're an animal lover, you already know it's true. Animals are capable of a deep and unconditional love that goes far beyond what you and I can feel. However, there is a cliché linked to animals awaiting adoption in shelters around the world. It seems, to many of you, that you believe that an animal in a shelter is there simply because it is unwanted or broken in some way.
But nothing is further from the truth. It is a fact that only five out of ten animals in shelters never come out alive. In my life, I have seen animals that were so hungry, so skinny, so mistreated, so neglected. They are the ones who have seen the worst of humanity. And yet, in one way or another, they find the strength to live; not only to live, but to forgive, to trust and to give unconditional love again.

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress is judged by the way its animals are treated."

Some scientific studies show that animals experience love in the same way as humans, through a chemical process. When you hold an animal, such as your pet, cat, dog, horse, and many other creatures in the animal kingdom, something magical happens. It releases the same hormones that you have when you are in love.

Therefore, there is not really love like the unconditional love of an animal. An innocent creature, who is not of the same species, decides to snuggle up against you when you are sad or to play with you when you are in a bad mood. And sometimes she even gives her own life to protect you. They don't have to, but they do it anyway. Animals know that you are unique to them and that, very often, you are their whole world. So always be nice!

The magic of loving an animal
I love all animals. They are beautiful creatures who deserve their place in this world. And I realized that loving an animal changes a person's life as well as mine. Whether it's an army, a service, a therapy, a farm, a wild animal or just your pet, the love you have for them is unique. But the extraordinary love you receive in return is one of the purest feelings on this planet.

When I grew up, I was one of those children who brought abandoned, injured or lost animals to the streets. I was coming home with them. My mother's answer was often no. So, being a rebellious child, I still took them to our stable. And I looked after them until they recovered. However, the older I got, the more I began to realize the cruelty and mistreatment of animals, and it hurt.

Of course, I wanted to do my part to help these poor innocent souls. So I started working with them before and after school, and also during the summer. But throughout my life, I have gone back and forth. I worked as a zoo keeper for big cats in Colorado. And then I got a job as an assistant surgeon for a veterinarian. But it was not for me. Now their unconditional love has taken over, and I'm back.

    The reasons for unconditional love
You may have heard a wolf howling towards the moon, but do you know why? Wolves cry out in grief when they miss a member of their pack. Some dogs will not leave the side of their master's grave. Have you ever seen your animal yawn too when you do? Well, it is supposed to be a sign of worship for you, its owner.

And what is it like when your cat is lazily relaxing in a sunny place in the house, looking at you from the other side of the room and then blinking gently? In the cat's body language, a slow and deliberate blink means an expression of total confidence, vulnerability and friendliness. Otters hold hands during their sleep and rest to prevent the clans from getting lost. Rats are known to free other rats from their cages.

Elephants also have unconditional love. They are emotional creatures that show great affection, for example when they mourn a lost loved one. Some even die heartbroken after the death of another. These sweet souls stand above the remains, crying from a few minutes to several days. They even go so far as to bury the bodies under leaves. And they are not the only animals that display incredible feelings and intelligence.

    The human and animal worlds
The separation between the human and animal world is not as extensive as one might think. Animals have such wisdom and power. And when we interact with them, they often alleviate our pain and our problems that we consider too overwhelming.

Therefore, the most magical aspect of your human-animal relationship is this unspoken language that you share with them. It promotes trust and affection that never falters or fades. Studies show that petting and spending time with an animal inevitably lowers the level of stress that circulates in your body.

Thus, the more affection, care and attention you give to an animal, the more devotion you receive in return. Therefore, nothing equals the unconditional love of an animal. And I think we have a lot to learn from them.

    It's unconditional love

Seriously, who else will accept you as you are? Who else will welcome you, whatever your circumstances? Where will you be greeted with such eagerness, as soon as you cross.

"Until you have loved an animal, part of its soul remains intact."
